As a Senior Opto-Mechatronic Designer/Architect, you play a central role in many Sioux projects.
As an expert in opto-mechatronic design you are responsible for the development and integration of optical modules into mechatronic systems. You will work on different optical modules such as imaging , 3D sensors, distance sensors, lasers and more. As the “optics” lead in a project you will be responsible for all optical modules and optics-related system aspects. Although the emphasis will often be on the early phases of a project, you will be involved in the entire product creation process from the ideation of concept solutions and technology proof to industrialization.
Depending on your experience you will be hired as an Opto-Mechatronic Architect or Designer.

- Applying your broad opto-mechatronic knowhow and creativity to realize innovative solutions for the high-tech industry.
- Being involved in a project during the whole product creation process: from demonstrating the feasibility of your concepts in functional models and calculation, translating them into a design to integration and verification testing.
- Variation, not only between conceptual work, modelling, design work and experiments in the lab, but also by working on one or more projects at the same time and working on various technologies for different applications and markets.
- Working in multidisciplinary teams including system architects, computational physicists, image processing mathematicians, and many others to get the job done.
- Guiding junior engineers in their projects and coach them to further develop their (technical) talents. With your experience, you help to further expand the Physics & Optics group within Sioux.

This is what you bring to the table
You recognize yourself in the following profile:
- 8+ years of industrial experience in opto-mechatronic system design for the high-tech industry.
- A completed academic degree (MSc or PhD) in physics or other relevant field.
- Experience in the design, realization, and verification of opto-mechatronic systems, including illumination and imaging / machine vision applications.
- Experience in the systems integration aspects of optical (sub-)systems including opto-mechanics, tolerance analysis, metrology, and calibration.
- Experience in the design of one-offs as well as series production including industrialization.
- Excellent modelling, experimental and analytical problem-solving skills.
- A system approach with a talent to think on helicopter level as well as detailed level in combination with an excellent sense of priorities.
- A pragmatic hands-on approach and you are not afraid to pick-up a screwdriver when needed.
- Excellent communication skills, both with internal stakeholders but also towards customers and suppliers.
